RHS Guidance Services provides:
Career counseling - If you are not sure of what courses you want to take or what career you want to pursue, the Counselor can help advise you.
Personal counseling - Students can talk individually to the Counselor about problems. These sessions are confidential.
Dropouts - The Counselor and Alternative School personnel work with students who are having difficulty with school. The entire staff at R.H.S. is concerned about potential dropouts and are continually working with these students.
Testing - The Counselor coordinates: Advanced Placement Exams, PSAT, SAT I and II, ACT.
Other Guidance Functions:
- Coordinates the Peer Helper & Peer Tutor Programs.
- All permanent school records are kept in the Guidance Office. Students or parents may make a formal request for a release of the student's transcript to another school, college, employer, etc.
- The Counselor coordinates the selection of students for various awards and scholarships along with special programs in which students may be involved.
- The Guidance Counselor is responsible for the operation of SIMS which computes students' grade point averages and class rank along with printing report cards, scheduling, attendance, and the NC State Transcript.
- Registration - All new students enrolling in high school for the first time should report to the Guidance Office. It is mandatory that every student have a complete shot record containing every date for the various shots.
- Withdrawal from School - If a student plans to withdraw from school, he/she must check out through the Guidance Office.
