Policies and Procedures: American Legion Post 192

I. The Post Commander will appoint an Scholarship Chairperson.

II. The Scholarship Chairperson will appoint at least two members of the post to serve with him/her on the Scholarship Committee.

III. The Scholarship Committee will determine eligibility for the post's scholarship.

• Student eligibility shall be based on relationship to members of the post, or a relation who has served in the U.S. Military. The following relationships are given priority:
  
  1. Son or daughter;
  2. Grandson or granddaughter;
  3. Nephew or niece;
  4. Brother/sister;
  5. A student with no relation in the post or military who shows financial need.
  
• The Scholarship Committee will select a candidate from the applications submitted by seniors at Robbinsville High School.
  
• The post will select a scholarship recipient and one or more alternates from the list of applicants.

IV. The person selected to receive the scholarship must agree to abide by the following stipulations.

• The student will present to the Scholarship Chairman a letter of acceptance to the institution that he or she will attend.
  
• After the first semester, the student must have passed all courses and present to the Scholarship Chairman an official grade report.
  
• The student must show an official document that he or she is enrolled for the second semester.
  
• The name and mailing address of the person the check should be made out to and copies of the above documents must be sent to:

  Robbinsville, NC 28771
  

V. The post will issue a check to the student after all stipulations have been met.

VI. If the stipulations are not met, the scholarship will be awarded to the alternate who meets the stipulations.

VII. The American Legion Scholarship is a one-time award of five hundred dollars.
