Randall Matheson Memorial Scholarship

Randall Matheson died at age 35 on February 23, 1983 , in a plane crash while working as Vice President of Phillips and Jordan, Inc. He was also serving as Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of Graham County at the time of the accident. As a lifelong resident of Graham County , Randall was committed to its future prosperity. He believed that providing a quality education to the children of Graham County was essential to its success and that everyone, regardless of economic status, should have the opportunity to further their education beyond high school.

The Randall Matheson Memorial Scholarship is sponsored by two of Randall’s children, David and Kenitra Matheson, and by Shirley Carpenter, wife of the late Randall Matheson.

To be eligible for this scholarship, you must be a graduating Senior of Robbinsville High School and have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or greater.

Open to: Seniors who plan to attend college with a GPA of 2.5 or greater.

Application: Online to print and return with copies of parents’ federal tax forms 1040 (page one only) and their W-2 forms for latest year these forms were filed. Note: In the case of divorced parents, only the custodial parent’s (and current spouse’s, if remarried) financial information is required.

Deadline: March 10th

Amount: $500.00 non-renewable scholarship

Payment of funds: This scholarship will be paid to the recipient after successful completion of one quarter/semester at a two or four year college, university or technical institute with a GPA at or above 2.5 and evidence of continuation.
