“People helping People” HIGH SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
Members of the SECU established this four0year scholarship program to assist
North Carolina
public high school students attend college. The SECU takes an active role is assisting communities across
North Carolina
and truly believes in “people helping people!”
Preference will be to students whose parents or guardians and family members are public sector employees who live and work in
North Carolina
. Scholarship recipients in good academic standing will be able to receive the scholarship up to a maximum of eight consecutive semesters.
The Scholarship Committee will use the following criteria to award the SECU Foundation “People Helping People” Scholarship: Is a senior at a NC public high school who has been accepted to pone of the 16 constituent campuses of the
University
of
North Carolina
. Is a resident of NC under NCGS 116-143.1, and is eligible for in-state tuition. Best exemplifies the membership philosophy of credit unions, “People Helping People” and has demonstrated leadership, excellence of character, integrity, and community involvement. Will use the scholarship to pay for full-time student tuition and other university approved educational expenses. Demonstrates scholastic achievement with a maintained 2.5 or higher GPA on a 4.0 scale and may be deserving of financial aid. Agrees to continue as a full-time student in good standing with the same university for eight consecutive semesters. Is not a Director, employee, or family member of an employee of the State Employees’ Credit Union or the SECU Foundation.
The decision of the Scholarship Selection Committee will be final.
Open to: Seniors who plan to attend a four year college in NC.
Application: No formal application for this scholarship.
Deadline: March 10th
Amount: $10,000 payable @ $1,250.00 per semester
Payment of funds: Payment of this scholarship will be sent to the college you are attending.
